Vicodin Abuse
The prescription drug Vicodin has
proven to be an effective pain reliever, however, it
is also one of the most commonly abused pain medications
on the market. Vicodin, which is an opioid, has similar
characteristics to street drugs including heroin and
other opiates, and people who take it often get addicted
to the euphoric feeling they experience on the drug.
People who engage in Vicodin abuse
show signs of a problem through a variety of different
behaviors. The typical Vicodin abuser will come up with
stories for doctors or make up fake prescription forms
in order to get the fix they need. These users usually
will have more than one doctor or more than one pharmacy
from which they get their needs met. Technology has
advanced in a manner that makes it harder for the Vicodin
abusers to beat the system, but if you know someone
in your life and are worried they are abusing prescription
drugs, monitoring and confronting their behavior can
be a good first step.
If someone you love is unreceptive
to your desire to help them, you may want suggest they
seek treatment, or use an intervention to get them help.
